The Beginning –

This congregation was founded by Pastor Norka Feijoo and others in 1973 in Miami, Florida. Norka’s ministry began in Cuba in the Methodist Church as a youth leader. After the Cuban Revolution of 1959, she left the country and emigrated to the U.S. The Methodist denomination made her a pastor and gave her a church in Miami, Florida.

The church experienced the outpouring of the Holy Spirit with signs following and it entered the Charismatic Renewal. Due to friction with some members of the church over the manifestations, she resigned her position as pastor and in 1973 with some of the believers from the Methodist church, they established Spanish Christian Church.

In 1978, through the Lord’s leading the congregation came to San Antonio, Texas. The church has been at its current location, 514 Santa Monica, since 1980.

The Present –

In May of 1994, Dr. A. David Gutierrez, was ordained assistant pastor. In May of 2004, he was ordained senior pastor, a position he still holds. Dr. Gutierrez was a member of Spanish Christian Church since its founding.

Over the years, he has served as a youth leader, camp counselor, worship team member, maintenance crew, and in other service opportunities. Pastor Gutierrez currently serves as worship leader and pastor. He is married to his lovely wife, helpmate and first lady of Spanish Christian Church, Barbara and they are blessed with two children; Samuel David (15) and Abigail Daniela (8).

Our current membership in Spanish Christian Church is 70.

The Future – The congregation plans to Grow:

Grow in numbers, we know the Lord gave a commission to the church – make disciples of all nations – this is a command for all churches to obey. We will obey together with all the others.

Grow in spiritual maturity. The Lord does not want spiritual babies. We must grow and develop into mature Christians so that His Kingdom will be established on earth.
